About Us

Global Community Service Foundation is a U.S.-based nongovernmental organization (NGO) that provides humanitarian assistance to the people of Viet Nam, Burma and other Southeast Asian countries. Specifically, it works to eradicate poverty in Southeast Asia by implementing sustainable, community-based programs that focus on improving access to health care, education and income-generation activities.

The nonprofit organization was founded in 1994 by Marcia Selva, who witnessed firsthand the extreme deprivation and hardships of the Southeast Asian people during her travels to the region. She soon was joined by concerned friends and fellow travelers to establish the Global Community Service Foundation, which has positively impacted the lives of thousands of people since its founding.

Today, Global Community Service Foundation has an active board of directors, a committed team of U.S. and Southeast Asian staff plus a growing network of global voluntourists whose dedication and hands-on support are invaluable to its success.

Additionally, Global Community Service Foundation works closely with other NGOs, resource providers and international groups to ensure the success of its mission.

Global Community Service Foundation is a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC No. 41268). Global Community Service Foundation also is a licensed NGO in Viet Nam (License No.: BM137) and registered with the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury (NGO Registration: License No. BU-1562).
