Educational Assistance/Vocational Training

  • Donated instructional aids—TV and DVD player—to Le Mon Kindergarten in Quang Tri Province
  • Provided vocational training to poor children ages 14 and older at the Da Nang Vocational Training Center
  • Donated more than 200 bikes to children in the Dong Nai area so they can go to school and help their families financially
  • Provided $1,500 in scholarships so 10 children could attend school at the Dong Ha Blind Association
  • Built three cultural community centers—in Ha Bac, A Deng and Khe Luoi—that bring to four (including one in Spanr village) the number of centers built by Global Community Service Foundation to date; four additional centers will be completed in 2009 and 2010
  • Installed a generator at Le Qui Don High School in Quang Tri Province
  • Provided educational and vocational training assistance to Cam Lo Language Lab at Tran Hung Dao High School in Quang Tri Province
  • Started construction of a primary school in Bogalay, Burma for more than 100 students

Essential Heath Care

  • Conducted a joint dental mission in Viet Nam with Journey For Children that served 1,200 children
  • Conducted a joint health care education mission in Viet Nam with Journey For Children that served 400 women
  • Conducted an assessment trip for an eye-care mission that took place in June 2009
  • Provided educational and basic medical services to more than 200 children in the Phu Loc Orphanage in Quang Tri Province
  • Provided medicines, pharmaceuticals and other basic medical supplies to Metta Clinic near Inle Lake, Burma
  • Approved funding for nurses at the Golden Girls Clinic, which provides basic health care to women near Inle Lake, Burma

Food/Water/Shelter/Clothing

  • Provided rice to the Paccoh and Van Kieu ethnic minorities in Viet Nam
  • Remodeled Da Nang Street Kids group homes in Viet Nam
  • Built seven houses for poor, homeless or vulnerable families in Da Nang
  • Conducted a major fundraiser for the Mai Tam Center in Ho Chi Minh City that provides care and lodging to women and children affected by HIV/AIDS
  • Built nine houses for poor and vulnerable families in Dong Nai
  • Built a 5,000 liter reservoir that provides clean water to 200 people in Gia Canh Commune in Dong Ha
  • Built eight houses for poor and vulnerable families in Quang Tri Province
  • Installed a generator at the Nuoc Ngot Orphanage in Quang Tri Province
  • Constructed a pipeline to bring fresh water from the surrounding mountains to the Nuoc Ngot Orphanage
  • Launched a partnership with the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology to build a dormitory and safe workplace at the Vinh Linh Blind Association, replicating the success achieved at the Dong Ha Blind Association
  • Rebuilt Dalla Orphanage outside Rangoon, Burma with brick-and-mortar structures following Cyclone Nargis

Humanitarian Assistance

  • Conducted a fundraising drive that raised nearly $200,000 for humanitarian aid immediately following the devastation of Burma’s Irrawaddy Delta region by Cyclone Nargis in May 2008
  • Delivered significant humanitarian aid and assistance to the victims of Cyclone Nargis in Rangoon and in the Irrawaddy Delta region of Burma
  • Donated 550 wheel chairs to disabled people throughout central and southern Viet Nam
  • Provided monthly funding to The Boys and Girls Orphanage in Mine Thauk near Inle Lake, Burma
  • Twice purchased and delivered fertilizer to farmers in the Irrawaddy Delta region of Burma following Cyclone Nargis

Income-Generation Assistance

  • Built drying yard and fence for the Dong Ha Blind Association’s incense manufacturing facility
